If you’re here, chances are you’re deep in wedding planning mode and trying to figure out what it’s actually like to work with a photographer, not just what fits nicely into an Instagram caption. So I put together this wedding photographer FAQ to answer the questions I get the most from couples planning weddings, elopements, and sessions in Las Vegas and beyond. Whether you’re dreaming of a candlelit chapel ceremony, a wild desert elopement, or just photos that actually feel like you, this guide should help you feel a whole lot more prepared going into the process. Think of this as the “grab a coffee and let’s chat about your wedding plans” version of an FAQ page!

The Experience | Wedding Photographer FAQ

What’s it actually like working with you?

Think less photoshoot, more love story! I’ll guide you through everything so you never feel lost or awkward, and then I step back and let the real moments unfold. My goal is never to make you feel like you’re performing for the camera. I want you laughing, moving, talking to each other, and actually experiencing your day instead of constantly thinking about how you look. The best photos always happen in-between the poses anyway.

I’m not photogenic at all. Will that be a problem?

I hear this from almost every single client, and by the end of our time together, they forget they ever said it. You do not need modeling experience. You do not need to know your angles. And you definitely don’t need to show up already knowing what to do with your hands. I direct you just enough to make you feel comfortable, and then I get out of the way so things can unfold naturally. You just need to be present with each other. That’s where the magic lives!

How much do you direct vs. let things happen naturally?

Honestly? Both, and knowing when to do which is one of the biggest parts of my job. I’ll never leave you standing there wondering what to do, but I also won’t over-direct you into something that feels stiff or fake. I’ll guide movement, prompts, and positioning while still leaving room for real reactions and emotion. The goal is always photos that feel cinematic and elevated while still feeling completely authentic to you. The sweet spot is somewhere right in the middle.

Will our photos look like your portfolio?

Yes, as long as we’re genuinely a good fit. My ideal clients care about aesthetics, but they care even more about the experience and the emotion behind the photos. My editing style and approach are very consistent: cinematic, emotional, slightly editorial, and focused on real connection. I’m not trying to turn you into someone else for the sake of a trendy photo. I want your gallery to feel like your story while still fitting seamlessly within the style you saw on my website.

Wedding Photographer FAQ | Weddings

Do you travel for weddings?

Absolutely! I’m based in Las Vegas but available worldwide. Honestly, I love getting to photograph couples in places that feel meaningful to them, whether that’s another state, another country, or somewhere completely off the radar. Travel fees may apply depending on the location, but I always keep the process straightforward and collaborative. Just mention your plans when you inquire and we’ll figure it out together.

How far in advance should we book?

Most of my couples book around 6–12 months in advance, especially during busy Las Vegas wedding season. Popular weekends can go fast, especially in spring and fall when the weather is perfect. That being said, if your wedding is coming up quickly, still reach out. I occasionally have last-minute availability and I’m always down for a spontaneous celebration when dates line up.

Do you work with a second shooter?

For full wedding days, I highly recommend adding a second shooter and I can absolutely arrange one for you! Having a second photographer means more moments get documented without anything feeling rushed. While I’m focused on your portraits or intimate moments, they can capture guests, cocktail hour, reactions, details, and all the little in-between moments happening at the same time. It creates a much fuller story of the day overall.

How many photos will we receive?

For a full traditional wedding day, you can expect around 600–800+ fully edited images delivered within 6–8 weeks. Elopement galleries range anywhere from 100-500+ edited images just depending on which package you choose. I don’t believe in holding back good photos just to hit a certain number. Every image is carefully selected and edited to match my signature style while still keeping your gallery feeling honest and true-to-life. My goal is always to give you a gallery that feels complete from beginning to end.

What happens if something goes wrong on the day?

This is exactly why experience matters. Weather changes, timelines run behind, someone forgets the rings, transportation gets weird, trust me, I’ve seen it all! None of it rattles me anymore. Part of my job is adapting quickly while still keeping everyone calm and making sure the photos never suffer because of it. Your job is to be fully present and enjoy your wedding day. I’ll handle the chaos behind the scenes.

Elopement Wedding Photographer FAQ

What exactly is an elopement and do I need to do anything special to make it legal in Las Vegas?

An elopement is simply an intimate wedding, whether that’s just the two of you or a small group of your favorite people. Las Vegas also happens to make the legal side incredibly easy. You’ll need a marriage license from the Clark County Clerk’s office, which you can apply for online ahead of time. The process is honestly super straightforward, and if you need help figuring it out, I’m always happy to point you in the right direction!

Can you help us plan our elopement location?

Yes, and this is genuinely one of my favorite parts of the process. Las Vegas has so much variety and most people only think of the Strip at first. But there’s also Red Rock Canyon, Mount Charleston, dry lake beds, rooftops, downtown alleys, neon signs, desert overlooks, and hidden little corners most tourists never find. I know how different locations photograph at different times of day, so I help guide couples toward spots that fit both their vibe and the overall experience they want.

Do elopements have to be small?

Not at all. An elopement can absolutely be just the two of you, but it can also include up to 35 of your favorite people. The difference really comes down to intention more than guest count. Elopements tend to focus less on traditions and pressure, and more on creating an experience that actually feels personal and meaningful. There’s no “right” way to do it!

What time of day is best for an elopement in Las Vegas?

Golden hour will always be my first recommendation because the light is soft, glowy, and ridiculously cinematic. The hour before sunset in the desert is just unreal. But honestly, every location photographs differently and I can work beautifully in pretty much any lighting situation. Once you decide on your location, I’ll help recommend the ideal timing based on the look and vibe you want for your photos.

Couples Session FAQ

We’ve never done a couples session before. What should we expect?

Honestly, most couples show up nervous and leave saying it felt more like a date night than a photoshoot. We’ll walk around, talk, laugh, and I’ll guide you with prompts that feel natural instead of overly posed or cheesy. There’s movement, conversation, and room for genuine moments to happen naturally. My sessions are intentionally relaxed because that’s what helps people feel most like themselves.

Where do you recommend shooting in Las Vegas?

Las Vegas has way more variety than people realize. Of course the Strip at night is iconic, but there’s also Red Rock Canyon, Boulder City, dry lake beds, Lake Mead, sand dunes, rooftop garages, lush parks, Mount Charleston forests, honestly, there’s a little bit of everything here. I also send couples a full location guide with real examples from my work so you can choose somewhere that actually fits your vision and personality.

Should we do a couples session before our wedding?

If you’re nervous in front of the camera, absolutely yes! Engagement sessions are the perfect way for us to get to know each other before the wedding day. You’ll get comfortable with how I direct, how I shoot, and what the overall experience feels like. By the time your wedding rolls around, you won’t feel awkward stepping in front of the camera because it’ll already feel familiar. It makes a huge difference.

Practical Wedding Photographer FAQ Questions

How do we officially book you?

Start by filling out my contact form and telling me a little about your plans. I’ll get back to you within 48 hours and we can schedule a call if you want to chat through everything together. Once we decide we’re a good fit, I’ll send over your contract and invoice. Your retainer officially locks in your date and then the fun planning begins.

What is your payment structure for weddings and elopements?

A retainer is due at signing to secure your date. After that, the remaining balance is usually broken into thirds or fourths depending on the package you book, with the final payment due one week before the wedding. Everything is done through a secure online invoice system and you can even set up auto-pay if you want the easiest possible experience. Because honestly, you already have enough wedding planning tabs open.

What about payment structure for regular sessions?

For regular sessions, it’s simple: half is due to secure your date and the remaining half is due the day before the session. Easy, straightforward, no weird surprises!

When will we receive our photos?

Sneak peeks land within 72 hours because I genuinely love sending sneaks and I cannot help myself. And not just three random images either, expect a solid variety so you can relive the day immediately. Full wedding galleries are delivered within 6–8 weeks, while regular sessions are typically delivered within 4–6 weeks. Everything comes through a private online gallery where you can download, share, and obsess over your photos forever.

Do you offer prints or albums?

Yes, and I honestly think your photos deserve to exist somewhere beyond your camera roll! Albums turn your gallery into something tangible you can hold onto for years and eventually pass down. I offer professionally printed albums and can walk you through all the options after your gallery is delivered. There’s just something different about physically flipping through your memories instead of scrolling past them on your phone.

What if we need to reschedule or cancel?

Life happens. Plans change. Emergencies happen! I completely understand that sometimes things are outside your control. My contract outlines everything clearly so there are never any confusing surprises, and if something comes up, the best thing you can do is reach out as soon as possible so we can figure out the next steps together.
